Broadside
Hold on the back line of the near front leg, about a third of the way up the body. The heart sits just above the elbow. The shoulder is heavy, and the body tapers toward the rump.
Quartering and other angles
Quartering away, aim for the far front leg. Warthogs often feed kneeling, which lowers the chest further; aim low on the leg line.
Do not
Do not shoot a running warthog with its tail up. Wait for it to stop, and do not walk up carelessly on a downed boar; the tusks are sharp.
Where they live and the typical miss
Found across Sub-Saharan Africa in savanna and open woodland. The typical miss is high and back, over the heart and into the paunch.
At the water hole
Warthogs come to water in the middle of the day. From a blind, wait for a clear broadside when the hog stands at the water's edge.
